Travellers' diarrhoea, caused by poor food preparation or handling, is also possible. Malaria and dengue fever outbreaks occur sporadically on some of the islands - wear long, loose clothing, cover up with insect repellent and consider taking anti-malarial medication. In Haiti, where the standard of living is extremely low, vaccination against hepatitis A and tuberculosis is also recommended.
